I recently took part in a charity walk in the UK called 24 Peaks. I very naively convinced myself that I was fit enough to walk up 24 of the UK’s highest mountains in 24 hours. Luckily the weather was so bad on the second day that I had a good excuse to walk down to the pub after peak 18.
A few of the hikers were fitness fanatics. Although they were warned by the charity organisers and mountain rescue that they should stop, they were not having any of it.
They had committed to walking each of the 24 peaks and they were going to do it.
In the evening about four of them walked in having finished in what was one of the worst wind and rain storms in recent history. You would have thought that they would just want to go to bed but they were high on adrenaline and ready for the party.
The event organisers made sure to make it special for everyone who participated in the two day 24 hour hike. The tables were set with engraved lead crystal wine glasses. Each place setting also had a double gift box with another matching engraved glass in it. Attached was a note that read that the logo engraved glasses we were using and the one in the box were a gift from the charity for helping to raise awareness and money for their cause.
Promotional crystal is often used at such events. Whether it be a charity event or a big corporate social, engraved crystal glasses, paperweights and awards usually play a very big part.
After dinner was a presentation and awards show. The sponsors had planned to give large crystal globe awards on a substantial removable crystal base to the first three hikers over the finish line. As only four people out of the original 200 had finished and they all walked over the finish line together this presented a small problem.
In the end, the presenter thanked us all for our efforts and promised the one mega athlete at the front of the room without a crystal award that he would be receiving his crystal globe award by special delivery within the next week.
Winners deserve engraved crystal awards!
Have you ever used crystal awards at a special event? Crystal awards have very long lives and can promote a brand or a cause for many years! Do you have any ideas or thoughts on the subject? Feel free to share by leaving a comment.
