5 Ideas For Hosting Social Media Contests With Logo Printed Promotional Gifts As Prizes

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

Whether you are using YouTube, Twitter, or Facebook, there are plenty of ways to connect with your customers. If you want to be more engaged with customers and give them a greater incentive for being interested in your company, why not try hosting a fun contest? One of the most popular ways to use social media is by hosting a contest. This article will provide you with 5 contest ideas that will get people excited and motivated about your business and the products and services it has to offer.

1. Host a Photo Contest with Flickr

Do you have an interesting product that can be photographed well? Do you sell rare books or the best burgers in town? Have your customers capture the experience and post their photos on your company’s blog or Facebook page. Pick out the funniest one and award them with a promotional t-shirt with your company logo! Using Flickr can be the best route for this type of contest, since it is a form of social media catered to sharing photographs.

2. Best “Personal Experience” Contest

Have customers gush about your products or services. Whether you want a 140 character tweet or 2,000 word blogpost, give customers an incentive to start typing away with this type of contest. Provide customers with a cash prize and promotional products featuring your company logo. You can decide to give everyone who participated a pen or magnet, and then give the best stories something more substantial like a fully lined leather folder or promotional crystal glassware. You can take this type of contest to the next level by requiring that certain keywords appear a certain number of times in an article. With this requirement, the positive reviews may appear at the top of any search engine feed!

3. YouTube Video Contest

Have your customers write and rehearse a song or dramatic poetry reading about your business’s products or services. Often, the results are hilarious and can be spread quickly online! The more creative the video entries, the more likely a large audience will tune in to see the hilariousness. Don’t be afraid to take fun risks like this for your business!

4. Create a Funky Trivia Contest

Did your grandfather create your business with only a nickel in his pocket? Does your business help out with a great charity? Many businesses have a fascinating history that is not well-known amongst customers. So, host a trivia contest and get customers on a hunt to find out more about your company! This is a great way to create a more established online presence and make your brand more known amongst customers.

5. New Product Ideas

Challenge your customers and see if they have what it takes to create your next product. If you own a shoe company, have customers send in the design of your next shoe line. Whatever product your business sells, engage your customers and get their minds competing for the best product idea. Often, the sketches you can receive in this type of contest are high-quality and will get you the next winning product for your company! Plus, customers enjoy receiving prizes in the form of promotional sports bags, promotional golf balls, promotional mugs, or whatever you choose to give!

Be creative and have fun while creating social media contests with the use of promotional products. No matter what type of contest you choose, if you use promotional products as prizes it is sure to be a hit!

Have you used promotional gifts to promote your business?  Perhaps you have an idea you can add to the above listed ideas. Have you used promotional items for a contest?   Let’s get some ideas rolling!

Efficient Marketing Strategies Make Profitable Businesses

Saturday, June 19th, 2010

Did you know that making your business more efficient can be fun and inexpensive? Rather than focusing on immediate profitability, the best businesses sit down and figure out how to increase efficiency first in their marketing department.  Promotional products offer just the solution your business needs for being part of incredible marketing strategies.  In an instant, promotional items convey important information to an array of audiences.

This article will explain how to increase the efficiency of your business by focusing on a marketing strategy that fully utilizes promotional gifts.  The more efficient your business becomes in its marketing strategies, the more likely it is to be highly profitable.

Of course Facebook, Twitter, and iPhone applications are all the rage for marketing your business.  At this point in time, using social media for marketing seems to be common knowledge amongst business owners. However, many business owners are struggling in finding ways to get people to these sites in the first place.  What good is a Facebook or Twitter account if few of your customers know how to access your social media sites?  What good is an iPhone application if no one knows it exists? The truth is, a Facebook or Twitter account is ineffective if your customers have no idea about them.  So, what you need to do is create what is often called a “viral” online marketing plan.

Promotional gifts offer the space for you to print the name of a Facebook or Twitter account upon them. Advertising a new iPhone application is also very possible with promotional merchandise.  Try printing the name of your company’s Twitter account on promotional items  that are visible to large groups of people at a time.  This way, your marketing is maximized at a low cost.  Products like promotional shopper bags are the way to go, if you especially want to appeal to consumers over and over again.  Many people shop at a mall, supermarket, chemist or boutique at any given time and will be able to access your Twitter account by seeing it printed on another shopper’s bag.

Umbrellas are also great promotional items that can play a major part in an efficient marketing plan.  Communicating the fact that your company has adapted to technology with a new Facebook account be visible to many with a promotional umbrella including the relevant information!  Perhaps you own an older or more traditional business that has recently decided to adapt to technology.  Your loyal customers will be impressed to see on a rainy day that your company has gone  above and beyond to appeal to a wide range of customers!

Golf bags and promotional sports bags are also great items for communicating the social media savviness of your company.  Typically, many business executives go golfing in order to do effective networking.  You never know if a business executive may be see your company’s new Facebook or Twitter account being advertised on a golf bag or set of golf balls. That same business executive may be the one who decided to place a large order with your company!

As you can see, an efficient marketing strategy directly effects the profitability of one’s business.  It really is worth business owners’ time to consider making promotional products a part of one’s marketing campaign or strategy. The company profits may one day far exceed a day or two spent on developing such a great marketing strategy!

5 Low Cost Ways To Promote Your Business

Friday, June 18th, 2010

The value of carefully building your brand is tremendous. Customers respect businesses that focus on quality brand building, rather than a rush to be profitable. In fact, those businesses that care more about brand building ultimately become more profitable than other businesses. If you are looking to build your brand in a high-quality fashion without the extra costs, simply tune in to these 5  ideas. In no time, your brand awareness will thrive online!
1. Get the Edge on New Social Media

You probably already use Facebook or Twitter to market your business. However, always be on the lookout for new forms of social media from which your business can benefit. Try subscribing to blogs and commenting when you feel you have something to add. Write your own industry blog and  stay in  touch with what is happening online.!

2. Specialized Link Directories
When you have a catchy domain name, the marketing doesn’t stop there. Be sure to actively market your company’s domain name in specialized link directories. Directories allow customers to search a plethora of specific businesses. For example, if you own an online women’s clothing store, then customers could find it in a directory that features only women’s fashion. By placing your link in these directories, you increase the chances of customers visiting your site!

3. Great Customer Service
Be sure to provide customers with great customer service. Customers respect the companies that go out of their way to make customer service hassle-free. If you have an online company, be sure to have an active phone line or email system for your company. Customers love to be able to have human contact with a business beyond an impersonal computer screen. If a customer has had trouble with a product or service, then make their hassle easier with a nice promotional gift set. A nice set of golfballs with your company logo can make customers appreciate the wonderful customer service of your online company!

4. Shopper Bags: The New Trend

Shopper bags are becoming a trend everywhere, as the world becomes more environmentally friendly. Customers take these bags everywhere to do all kinds of shopping. Print your logo or company information on one, and people in cities around the country could  see your company logo and web address!  Shopper bags are a great way to build your brand in an inexpensive way.

5. Create Your Own Online Commercials
Create your own online commercials for free with services like YouTube. Then, have your customers vote for the winning ad! Give customers a nice pen with your company’s imprinted logo for their time.

Building your brand inexpensively takes creativity, energy, and passion. If you are passionate about always making your company better than it was yesterday, then you will find great success with your customers! Inventive marketing through promotional products like shopping bags can also be the inexpensive key to success for your company.

Promotional Gifts and Social Media are the Perfect Pair

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

Ever since the invention of social media, the most successful businesses are the ones that find inventive ways to use it as a marketing tool. The key is, however, that social sites need to be used in creative and inventive ways. Merely creating a Twitter account or Facebook Like page is not enough anymore. For an added touch of professionalism, try combining social media with promotional gifts to get customers noticing your business.

The use of social marketing sites is a great way to bring your business into the modern century of technology. Promotional items like mouse mats can also make your business appear more technologically savvy as well. No matter what kind of business you own, promotional items can serve your business and your customers well.

If you want a better idea of what your audience craves from your business, you may want to reward them with promotional merchandise for taking surveys regarding your business. Often, younger generations can have great ideas for new social networking sites your business can use for marketing. Try offering a variety of promotional items in a goodie bag along with a coupon or gift certificate for your company, in exchange for some fresh ideas from your customers. By getting your business out on as many social networking sites as possible, you are increasing the visibility of your site online which can result in greater profitability in the long run.

Getting customers engaged through promotional gifts is a great way to earn respect for your company. In addition, customers will feel like they are a valued part of your business. When you create positive synergy amongst your customers with promotional gifts, you can build better customer loyalty for your business and keep them coming back for more.

When considering which promotional gifts to use with social media, desktop gifts are usually a popular choice. Desktop gifts like conference folders, mouse mats, and coffee mugs are very popular items because everyone has a practical use for such items. In addition, these items can make your business appear professional to an entire other audience that is encountered by your customers with the promotional gifts everyday.

If you want to really get creative with promotional gifts and social media, try hosting a “social media” treasure hunt. Host your company on as many social media sites as possible. The person that finds your company on the most social media websites gets the promotional gift of his or her choice. This can be a fun way to increase your traffic and popularity in social media networking sites!

Cost Effective Marketing Tips

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

There was a time when marketing your business was an expensive endeavor. Television advertisements, newspaper ads, and creating fancy brochures were once the normal way of marketing a business. These ways of marketing, however, were very costly for businesses, sometimes costing thousands of dollars. The times truly have changed. These days using promotional gifts with social media is the best form of cost-effective marketing for your business. Want to take your business to the next level and cut costs? With just a few simple steps, you can bring your business the success it deserves!

Compare how much it costs to create a Facebook or Twitter page as opposed to a television commercial or even newspaper ad. Twitter and Facebook pages are free to create, while a television commercial may cost thousands of dollars. A small one inch section advertisement in a newspaper can cost hundreds of dollars. Promotional items cost a fraction of the price of both forms of advertising, and can be used in highly creative ways when paired with social media marketing.

With business social media pages, thousands of people can receive instant updates about your business. This means that you can promote your products instantly with promotional gifts. Some creative ideas to get people joining your Twitter or Facebook pages are offering contests with promotional gifts as prizes. Some great promotional gifts to give out through a Facebook Like page are conference folders, pencils, mugs, or stress toys with your company’s logo printed on them.

The key to creating a successful social media campaign that uses promotional items effectively is to engage your audience. Rather than merely posting a status update that gives out promotional gifts to whoever stops by the fan page, try offering a promotional gift to the customer that comes up with the catchiest motto for your company. Engaging with your audience helps bring a nice personal touch to your business that customers won’t soon forget.

Other ways to engage customers with promotional merchandise contests on your Facebook page are offering gifts to the person with the most referrals. Give a nice pen set to the person that gets the most referrals to add your Facebook Like page to his or her “favorites” list on his or her own profile page.

To reach millions of people, don’t be afraid or shy to make use of Twitter and Facebook and get into the game. Using promotional gifts paired with social media can be one of the smartest forms of marketing your company to a diverse audience in an instant way.

Investigating Inbound Marketing Methods Social Media and Promotional Gifts Together

Wednesday, May 12th, 2010

Companies investing more in inbound marketing are finding themselves in more favorable positions within the market than those companies that use outbound marketing methods. Perhaps you are wondering what the difference is between “inbound marketing” and “outbound marketing” and what those terms mean. This article will discuss the differences between these two types of marketing and how inbound marketing can create a whole new dynamic for your company.

Inbound marketing

This type of marketing that causes people to discover more about your company on their own terms. Inbound marketing encourages people to research your company in depth, visit your website, join a Twitter feed or Facebook page, and saturate themselves with your company’s information. For whatever reason, people are motivated to learn more about your company due to “inbound marketing” such as social media.

Outbound marketing

On the other hand, “outbound marketing” is when a company floods individuals with information rather than letting the individuals seek that information. A company may use telemarketing, internal cold calling, television or online pop-up banner advertising, and will send email newsletters that clog the inboxes of customers. Most companies choose to invest in “outbound marketing” without realizing how much this marketing can actually hurt business profits rather than help them.

Customers have more respect for companies that utilize “inbound marketing.” Two major tools in this marketing strategy are the use of social media like Facebook and Twitter, in addition to article marketing and promotional desktop gifts.

There are many ways to create highly innovative combinations to promote your business using social media and promotional desktop gifts. The best promotional desktop gifts leave customers “wanting more.” Perhaps your company only put a website address on a mouse mat, or a witty phrase with the company logo on a paperweight. Putting witty or funny phrases on promotional items that make customers think bolsters your company’s image in the marketplace.

Perhaps clients saw a review of your company’s blog or a funny Twitter post recently published in an online newspaper. Maybe a promotional mug inspired a company to look up your company’s Facebook page and Twitter post. This “inspired” and knowledge-seeking attitude is the mindset behind inbound marketing and promotional gifts play a critical role in molding this attitude amongst clients and customers.

A highly effective way to utilize Twitter and promotional products is by offering desktop calendars to the first 10, 100, or 1,000 people that “follow” a Twitter feed. This simple act can jump start your business in ways outbound marketing, or interruption marketing,  simply can not.

For innovative marketing solutions, try to get your company in an “inbound marketing” mindset rather than an “outbound marketing” mindset. Inbound marketing offers great solutions, is respectful towards consumers’ time, and will ultimately increase the profitability of your company.

Friday, March 26th, 2010

Promotional products can increase your visibility and let more people know that you are out there. Your fan page has the ability to help you grow your business and promotional gifts can help you to get more people joining your page.

One of the best promotional items for anything that has to do with the internet is a custom mouse mat. The mousemat is used by practically everyone that uses a computer and they are often replaced due to wear and soiling. They are thin, light and easy to store so that you can carry them around to hand out as you go about your daily business. Available in materials such as plastic, rubber, metal and even wood, there are a multitude of shapes and colors to choose from. Promotional USB flash drives have the ability to be made with your information and even media files preloaded on them, so if you are a band you can hand preople your music in the form of a small stick that has your name printed on it. Because of their size, the promotional USB flash stick is even easier to carry around and hand out than the promotional mousemat.

Of course, there are some very affordable promotional products available if you are on a budget. Personalized pens can go a long way for a small per-unit price. Virtually everyone uses them and will hold on to them, especially if it is a unique styled pen.  Promotional key rings are another low-cost item that can have a huge impact, since practically everyone uses keys. How to Personalise Your Facebook Fan Page URL & Give Your Page a Professional Look

Saturday, February 13th, 2010
CompuGift Facebook Fan Page Logo

CompuGift's Facebook Fan Page Logo

Social media is evolving faster than could have ever been expected even a few months ago. Used in business, it offers you a chance to introduce your company or organisation to new people and get to know your current customers much better. From a marketing standpoint, it is vital that you and/or someone within your organisation do as much inward marketing as possible such as blogging, getting a Twitter account and setting up a Facebook fan page for your business. Here I would like to tell you how to personalise your business Facebook fan page and ensure your fan page has a professional appearance.

If you have ever looked at a fan page on Facebook, you may have noticed that Facebook’s URL is normally followed by a lot of meaningless text and figures. Somewhere hidden in the mess is the company’s name whose fan page it is. Often this company’s name will have been broken up into pieces. The URL is quite long and would look silly printed in a brochure or on a website.

Thankfully, Facebook has done something about it! You can now get a fan page for your company that is much shorter. This can easily be advertised on promotional gifts such as printed stress balls and promotional pens, corporate literature and websites so your customers can remember your Facebook URL and find you quickly and easily.

Here is how it is done.

First, you need to have a personal Facebook account. You cannot set up an anonymous fan page. If you do not already have an account, go to the site and sign up. It is quick and easy and best of all free. Once you have your account, go to facebook.com/pages/create.php which is where you can sign up for your company fan page. Fill in your details and you have a fan page with a silly URL.

Now it is time to make your Facebook URL yours;

  • Get 25 friends and/or customers to become fans of your fan page. In order to have your own personal business Facebook URL, you need to have at least 25 fans.
  • When you have your 25 fans, go to facebook.com/username. Facebook will allow you to choose your URL which will be something like facebook.com/yourcompany
  • Now work on your logo!

Many companies are lax with this part of their fan page. The problem is there are two different picture icons that appear on the page. When you add your logo, it will most likely look very good at the top of the page. However, when you write a comment a reduced version of your logo appears to the left of the comment. More often than not, this reduces your logo and if there is text involved it could make “Yourlogo” look like “ourlog” which I am sure you will agree is hardly ideal.

To fix this fault, you need to purchase an inexpensive art program such as Paint Shop Pro. You can often download art programs on a 30 day free trial. Ensure that the text part of your logo fits within a 175 pixel x 175 pixel square. Once this is done, go to “image” and then “canvas size” and increase the canvas to 200 pixels square. This will give your logo and details a white 15 pixel border. I realise this is technical talk so if you cannot be bothered to do this, ask a professional. It should not be expensive.

Upload this logo to the logo picture area at the left of your page. Whenever you write a comment, it will be shown to the left of your comment without anything getting chopped off in the process.

Would you like to see how I did it? Then visit http://www.facebook.com/compugift, my company’s Facebook page. While you are there, why not become a fan! It would be great to get your feedback. The page will be updated often with similar articles and special offers.

I hope this article was helpful.  I welcome comments on my blog an hope to hear from you soon.
