Food items are very popular fundraising items for the scouting organisation. Boxes of chocolates and other assorted sweets are usually big hits as promotional fundraising items and can be offered for sale either by individual scouts or set up as a retail display in any kind of shop.

Calendars can be a year-round advertisement that can be sold a a very nice profit while promoting a different aspect of scouting each month. Promotional products can be broken down into four basic groups. If you are unclear about what kinds of promotional products would best suit your marketing needs, this quick list will provide the information you need to narrow down what type of promotional items will best help you to acheive your marketing goals.

Branded or imprinted giveaway items-

This category is the broadest of all and covers most every item that is considered a promotional tool. Branded promotional items are meant to be given away for the purpose of brand exposure. Popular items in this category include but are not limited to pens, fridge magnets, calculators, calendars, notepads and stress toys. For these items to be most effective they must be useful with a clear imprintation that leaves no doubt about what message they are to convey.

Branded items that are sold at or slightly above cost-

Promotional items can also be things that people will pay money for, such as apparel, caps, beverage mugs, computer-related products (mousemats and flash drives) and pocket knives. These types of promotional items must be desirable enough so that people will view them as must-have items.

Branded items given out as incentives for achieving certain goals-

The recipients of these types of promotional items are usually employees who meet or exceed certain standards specified by either an employer or outside vendor. Quality crystal and glassware are popular in this category, as well as fashionable apparel.

Branded awards-

This type of promotional gift can be a trophy or wall plaque imprinted with the name of its recipient and the designated acheivement, such as “Top Producer” or “General Excellence”. These promotional items are not always limited to trophies or plaques- they can also be designer clocks or executive desktop items such as quality pen sets or picture  frames.

Conferences Are Better with Promotional Products

Monday, April 4th, 2011

Promotional products - photo mugs

Promotional mugs are popular conference giveaways.

I would like you to think for a moment about the look and feel of two different conferences. Both were organised by professionals within your industry. They were both well planned and promoted before the events which led to record numbers of people attending. Great success – yes! Well no actually. One of the planners didn’t order promotional merchandise.

Rick went to great lengths to ensure his show was well received and it was. But he decided not to order any promotional products such as printed pens, mugs, conference folders and name badges. Nobody really missed them and the speakers were outstanding. But Rick had missed out on using some of the most cost effective promotional tools for keeping the conference alive!

Jon, on the other hand thought about what the attendees at his conference might need while there. He ordered promotional pens that his company was proud to hand out. He ensured every attendee had a conference folder and a note pad, a promotional mug for their coffee/tea break and a digitally printed name badge.

It would be fair to wonder why Jon would go to this expense when Rick’s conference was so well received without the use of promotional giveaways.

Promotional products – especially those that serve a purpose can make a good conference into an outstanding and memorable conference. Here is why;

1.) They show goodwill

Isn’t it nice to arrive somewhere and be totally taken care of. It shows that your hosts have your needs in mind. By offering useful promotional products to the attendees, Jon was ensuring that they had the things they needed to write, store informations, relax and network.

2.) Information retention

Promotional products printed with the logo and message of the conference help keep the event in people’s minds. By handing them gifts they could store information in and write information down with, Jon was ensuring his information would be looked at again and again.

3.) Reminders

Promotional merchandise can work as a reminder about how professionally done and informative your even was. When Rick’s conference becomes a distant memory if not completely forgotten, Jon’s conference could be thought about long afterwards.

4.) Networking

Think about the attendees, logo printed coffee mugs in hand and wearing their bright digitally coloured name tags during the break. They could easily strike up a conversation with each other and your promotional merchandise could help keep your business and ideas part of their conversation.

5.) Promotion

Promotional gifts are of course great for promotion. The conference attendees who take the gifts away with them are most likely not going to be the only people who see them. Your promotional products could help promote next year’s conference to their work colleagues and friends.

Keep these five important points in mind next time you find yourself planning a conference. Promotional products can help make your event and event to remember.

Promotional Products Can Help To Nurture Success With Your Childcare Service

Thursday, March 31st, 2011

Just one of the hundreds of fun promotional stress balls

You already know that with the growing number of two-income families there is an increasing demand for full-time and after-school childcare.

Many parents are very particular about what kind of care that they want their children entrusted to, preferring a service that nurtures and interacts rather than propping kids in front of the telly for hours on end. Will they find you?

Promotional products are giveaway items that are imprinted with your name, contact information and any other message you would like to convey. They can be inexpensive, i.e. promotional pens that can be handed out in mass as a business card with a purpose, or more personalised, such as promotional photo mugs or promotional stress toys that are meant to be given out more selectively to your best current and potential customers. Promotional products can range in price from a few pence per unit for promotional pens to a pound and upward per unit for promotional mugs or promotional stressballs.

When choosing promotional products for marketing your child care service there are two main aspects to focus on- fun and education. It’s not hard to pick promotional products that represent these themes. Promotional pens that are both fun and carry a message about your mission. Promotional mouse mats in pleasing primary colours that stress early learning. Promotional stress toys in fun shapes such as a letter block, plain ball or an apple. Promotional keyrings can serve as a reminder to the sometimes absent-minded parent to pick their children up on time. All promotional items are uniquely imprinted with the name and contact information of your organisation.

Promotional gifts can be a very powerful tool in marketing your services to your desired clientele. Promotional pens can be distributed freely at places such as pizza restaurants, hair salons and toy stores. Stress toys, promotional mouse mats and promotional photo mugs can be handed out to potential clients during the initial contact phase.

Use your imagination to determine what kind of promotional products you want to represent your service and then contact us at 01642 782455 for more information or samples.

Please note that promotional stress toys should never be given to children under three.

Promotional Grilling BBQ Sets- Kick Off The Outdoor Cooking Season In Style

Wednesday, March 30th, 2011

promotional grilling set

It's time for BBQ!

There is nothing better during a summer evening than grilling food outdoors as the sun lowers on the horizon. Outdoor grilling is a healthy way to cook your meats and vegetables and has a flavour that can be synonymous with summertime. As you watch your food cook while enjoying a cool beverage, everything can seem right with the world. However, without the proper BBQ tools for grilling the outdoor cooking experience can be hampered with burns to the skin and food dropped to the ground. Giving you customers a promotional gift of a premium grilling set helps to ensure that their grilling goes smoothly and that your company is well remembered.

If you have ever tried to grill using standard kitchen utensils you understand how important it is to have tools specifically designed for outdoor grilling. Insulated handles keep the heat from transferring to your hands, while the extra length keeps your appendages away from the flame. Anyone who has attempted to grill a shish kebab using standard metal skewers knows this and probably has the burn marks on their fingers to show for it. A promotional grilling set will contain all the utensils needed for outdoor grilling, including the proper skewers, tongs, fork, knife and spatula.

Premium grilling sets will come enclosed in a case that is perfect for displaying your company name and information. The available attractive cases are sized perfectly for portability so that they can be brought for camping or toted to a park for use on a community grill. Your promotional grilling set will be a welcome gift for the summer season and will also impress dinner guests as well. There will most likely be discussions about your grilling set as the food is cooking and the drinks are flowing, with the guests possibly showing signs of envy over your promotional gift.

Promotional gifts work best when they are used and spark conversation. With your company information prominently displayed on your promotional grilling set there will be no doubts about who gave it to them and where it came from. Your grilling set is sure to be a coveted item that will give its user years of use and help to keep your organisation on their minds for just as long.

Promotional Gifts- A Closer Look At These Strong New Business Builders

Promotional products get your brand noticed!

Promotional products are an excellent low cost means of marketing your new business.

Starting up a business can be both rewarding and exhausting. Whether you have a store front or will be operating from your home office, getting your first wave of clientele can be tricky. There are many ways to advertise your business, and most of them are very expensive. Print ads, such as newspapers and telephone directories, can be extremely expensive and take time to see results. Promotional products can be the most effective way to successfully advertise to new and potential customers. While the internet is slowly striking the death knell for print media, it has not affected the promotional products market at all.

Promotional products have been around for centuries. The first promotional gifts on record are the commemorative buttons handed out in 1794 to mark the election of George Washington, the first president of the United States. In the early nineteenth century a printer from Ohio, Jasper Meeks, persuaded a store to offer bags with their name on them, and the promotional gifts industry was born. Several of the promotional products that were offered back then are still available today and very popular: promotional bags, fans, calendars, caps and promotional clothing.

Promotional products have worked as advertising tools since then for a reason- they are fantastic at improving brand awareness. A promotional pen, for example, informs its user of your company everytime they write. Promotional mugs can be a daily advertisement with the morning meal and throughout the rest of the day.

The promotional stress toy (a small, squeezable object) can be shaped to complement any industry, and are very popular with their recipients. Executive promotional gifts, such as high-quality fountain pens, golf balls and even watches can be branded with your company name and information.

Make sure you know your market when choosing your promotional items. Hooded sweatshirts may look great, but if you’re in a climate that is mostly warm then you would be better handing out t-shirts or polo/golf shirts. The promotional pen is the most popular giveaway item today, along with fridge magnets, calendars and the promotional beverage mug.

Practically anything can be used as a promotional gift, you are limited only by your imagination and budget. At CompuGift we would be happy to assist you in finding the best promotional products for your  business. We can organise samples and our promotional gifts website offer instant quotes.

Memorable Business Cards- Uniquely Designed Cards and Promotional Products Grab Attention

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2011

Do you use a business card when introducing yourself to possible customers and suppliers? If so, is it a simple card or does it actually serve a purpose?

I’m only asking because I haven’t used business cards in years. The last business card I had certainly attracted a lot of interest, however. People remembered me by the card and I actually received quite a few orders for business cards just like it.

At the time, I was the sales director of a promotional PVC and polypropylene products manufacturer. We manufactured such promotional items as logo printed ring binders, plastic coasters, conference folders and plastic business cards.

My card was clear flexible plastic and it was printed in three spot colours. It really looked the business!

Somewhat unexpectedly, I am now recalling these long forgotten business cards because of a blog post I read by a friend I met through Twitter.

Graham J Harris or @GrahamJHarris came across a blogpost by a company called Web Designer Depot. The blog showed 100 unique and entertaining business cards. Finding the pictures of interest, he decided to write a post and pass on the pictures through his own blog.

I’m glad he did.

I was happy to see that there were pictures of clear plastic business cards, similar to those I used, still grabbing attention!

You can read Graham’s blog and see all the business card pictures at;
http://www.youtoosocialmedia.co.uk/2011/03/100-creative-business-cards/

Reading Graham’s post got me to thinking about why I have steered away from using cards for so long. After scrolling through the pictures, however, I realised I hadn’t. My business cards have just been in a different shape.

Whenever I visit a new customer I hand them some sort of promotional product. Interestingly, some of the promotional products I have used as ‘business cards’ over the years were featured in the blog post.

I have used promotional coasters, flower seed packs and rulers, for example. These are all products that people could find useful or at least memorable.

If you get a chance to visit the blog you will also find other business cards that are really well designed and eye-catching.

These business cards serve a purpose as well because people like to keep them and even display them near or on their desktops.

When we meet new people who we hope to do business with it is important they remember who we are. Giving them a business card that they can easily associate with your business is an excellent idea.

Giving them a product that they can actually use or want to display will help create opportunities.

So then… What is the best business card you have ever come across? Do you have a card that is better than any other? Now is the time to promote it by leaving a comment.
