As an American ex-pat it would be almost unbelievable that over 160million cups of tea are drunk every day in the UK if I had not actually witnessed my wife drinking a large percentage of this daily total.

Joking aside, the British seem to love their hot cups of tea. If you are trying to promote your business, this offers an excellent opportunity for you to build your brand and ultimately increase your sales!

I receive similar phone calls almost every day from people who have left things a bit late. Luckily for them, there are many different promotional gifts that can be express printed.

But think of what could have been if they had only left themselves a little more time.

Promotional gifts get results but properly planning your promotional gifts campaign will achieve sensational results.

Here I would like to offer you 3 tips that will get you the results you want from your promotional gifts.

Target Your Customers

Try to find gifts that your customers either need or will enjoy using. Useful gifts work best. Promotional items such as printed pens, notepads, photo mugs and highlighters are all examples of promotional items that your customers, regardless of their industry will use regularly. If you cater to a specific niche such as walking clubs, you may wish to offer your customers well thought out gifts they will use like sports water bottles, walking sticks and printed backpacks.

Look for Better Ways to Present Your Gifts

Promotional Gifts-How Good Taglines Help Get The Best Results

It’s true – people do like to own stuff especially when it is free! This is just one of the reasons that promotional merchandise plays such an important role in business promotion.

Do you have a product or service you are trying to promote to your target customers? Perhaps that sounds like a silly question but bare with me…

If you have a product and/or service you want to promote then why not promote the actual solutions and benefits your customers will experience by using your company. This can be easily done and your message made stronger with promotional gifts.

Let’s say, for example, you own a restaurant cleaning business. You could send your target customers plastic printed pens with your name and telephone number on them but honestly that would not achieve the best results. There are a lot of businesses that do the same thing so show those target customers the benefit of using your company.

The promotional pen was not the problem. Promotional pens are excellent promotional tools. To get the best results you need to print a logo, telephone number and web address. You then need a catchy tagline that will make them think of you. Something like ‘We Do The Cleaning – You Have More Time.” is a perfect example of a strapline one of my recent customers used.

It is important to give away gifts that your customers will want to own. Things they will use regularly such a promotional pens, mugs, mouse mats and other desktop items are all good examples. Your message will be even more powerful if you can tie a good tagline and promotional product together. Some examples I have seen are as follows;

Promotional Pens: “Sit Back and Dream About our Coffee” – This tagline was advertising a popular coffee shop in the UK. It was quite effective because the people using the mug would most likely be drinking an inferior instant coffee at their office or home.

I think you get the idea.

Promotional gifts are very effective business promoters but if you give useful gifts that list the benefits of using your business you will get much better results.
